Sullivan Diner in New York City – delicious gourmet dinner

On a trip to New York City, we discovered the Sullivan Diner at 169 Sullivan Street in the MacDougal Historic District. Chef/Owner Richard Galcik has a long impressive resume in the culinary field. He also has a green thumb and is seen here watering the lush plants in his restaurant.

We sat at the end table next to the doors that open onto the restaurant’s porch. It was if we were sitting in a garden instead of the middle of big city!

The Monte Cristo I ordered was one of the best I have eaten. It was made with fresh ham and melted Swiss cheese on toasted Challah perfectly grilled. The homemade chips and coleslaw were also delicious.

Perry enjoyed Matzo Ball Soup with chicken and vegetables served in a footed soup bowl on a plate. The Mesclum salad with balsamic dressing rounded out this wonderful light meal. He said the decaf coffee was excellent which was a nice surprise because restaurants don’t often serve good coffee.

I didn’t finish my chips so the wait staff bagged them and added two cookies for a surprise treat. If you’re in NYC, stop by Sullivan Diner, a wonderful gem of a restaurant!
